Big June Update!!

Been a very busy month June with lots going on so haven’t really had the time to update the Blog!! But here are just some of the celebration Cakes we have made this month so far.

Starting with 2 bauble Style cakes the Purple one was for a 40th and the Pink for a christening, both were ordered by past brides :)

More birthday cakes, with a Pooh and Friends Cake, Sapphire Gin bottle and a favourite of little girls a doll cake.

Next a couple of Simple birthday Cakes with firework style toppers, and another popular cake a football shirt.

And Finally a 2 tier Engagement Cake with Ivory sparkles Rose’s and gold Leaves.

Big update to Follow on our Wedding cakes Blog, with some lovely cakes, at lovely venues and also some pictures of our wedding friends all making everything perfect for our bride and grooms big days.

Quite a few Celebration cakes in this update, starting with 2 girlie Birthday cakes. One a simple 2 tier with black and pink hearts and the other a Handbag cake with moulded Chocolate Shoes.

Seems to be something with wired toppers at the moment with 3 more cakes, a engagement cake and to very similar Christening Cakes in this style.

And just for good measure another of the ever popular Burnley Shirt, always a big hit with the Boys.

Been very busy lately making allsorts of cakes but have only updated the wedding cake blog,so here are a few of our latest celebration cakes

Starting with a lovely Bauble style Cake for a Christening which was on display at Rose hill house and a classic 2 two tier hearts Engagement Cake for our friends at the Pendle Inn.

Next up another of our classic wedding cakes, but for a birthday, these chocolate cup were made for Lauren who had a big 18th bash at Barcode in Burnley. We also made plenty of cup cakes!! both as a extra on birthday cakes. The final cake is probably my favourite a Bingo cake using baubles as balls.

Been a bit busy for the last couple of weeks!! anyway here a few of our latest cakes -

Another of our Chocolate Cup cakes made for Paula’s and David’s wedding at the Spread Eagle in Sawley.

This cake was made for Lynn and John way Back at the Dunkenhalgh, but we have just received this lovely Picture of the rather large castle cake we made which was much better that ours!!

Salmesbury Hall wedding fair

Had another lovely day at Salmesbury Hall Wedding fair on the 6th March, Plenty of brides and their families came out in what was a lovely sunny day.

Plenty of other suppliers including Garlands Florist, Creative Cover hire, Tiaras by Michelle, Music by Union Street Country Dance to name a few plenty of interesting stuff and of course Salmesbury Hall looked as Stunning as ever

Lovely Day at the Spread Eagle in Sawley, seen some lovely brides and caught up with some of our favourite Suppliers.

Sarah Cox Had a lovely selection of Table wear, and Special wedding cars, cars looks just as stunning as even, Some lovely photos of display by CW Photography, Lulu Browns of Clitheroe supplied the amazing Bridal gowns. I will update with the rest of the suppliers shortly as they were a lovely bunch.

We will be attending 2 wedding fayres on the next 2 Sundays, First will be The Spread Eagle at Sawley on 27th February and the second is at Salmesbury Hall near Preston.

Couple of Big Cakes!! This Week

Starting with Fridays Cake, 3 tiers of individual hearts with topper cake. Decorated with handmade sugar Lillie's in Burgundy and Ivory with a touch of Black and Silver looks great set up at Eaves Hall in Clitheroe, and although I didn’t get to speak the the bride and groom Lyndsay & Marc they looked like they were having a great day with their guests and sure they will be happy with their Cakes

Next Cake was at the very grand Hoghton Towers for Paula and Matt, Bauble cakes in Burgundy, Black and Ivory with mostly handmade sugar rose’s to decorate, with a lot piped work to finish off.Looked really good with the castle back drop and fitted in great with he theme of the room.

Mitton Hall Supper Club

Had a lovely evening at Mitton Hall with some of the best wedding suppliers in the Northwest.

And before I go on I must give credit!! as all photo’s of the Event on here were taken By the Photography Super Hero’s at Jonny Draper Photography stunning pictures, really knowledgeable about what they do and most of all just nice and very helpful people!!

Anyway on to the event which was sold out for over 60 guests mostly brides , grooms and their friends and families who wanted to try the great food with great entertainment and talk about all things wedding and hopefully get some great ideas to take away with them from the supplier or wedding “Superheroes” as we were all dubbed!!

Guests arrived and enjoyed reception drinks and canapé's before being seated at their tables – which is when things really got started…!!!

Flutterby Couture had created all of the stationery for the evening, including the seating plan, table names, place names…

Flower Design had created these amazing table centre pieces – every single one was different with the aim of showing off just how creative you can be on your big day…

Mitton Hall served a full 4 course menu of all their dishes (in smaller portions thankfully!) in a tapas style platter service and of course the food was just as good as expected. We were lucky as we had places at the tables so we got the chance to talk to all of the guests personally and give them the opportunity to chat to us about their big day and all things wedding! as well as tuck in to the lovely food on offer!!

Top wedding entertainer Howard Wing was the man with the mic and really kept everyone entertained all evening – even letting Dave, Mitton Hall’s Maître d’, blast out a chorus or two! (He was awesome!)

The Big Reveal! was set up at the beginning of the evening when the full team of wedding superhero’s were introduced, special guests – the ‘brides and grooms’ for the evening, Olivia & Dan and Sarah & Be ware introduced in their ‘normal’ clothes and then during the course of the evening backstage. Sheree from One & Only Bridal Couture (who also did an amazing job on Sarah & Olivia’s hair!) and Emma Draper Make-Up Artist gave them a full make-over, dressed them in some amazing wedding gowns and suits and presented them to our guests at the end of the night!

The man who coined the phrase ‘Wedding Superhero’s’ Tom Harrington from Silk Wedding Videos shot some amazing footage throughout the evening – which will be coming soon…

Now I have covered all the stuff our fellow wedding “Super Heroes” did, I should now tell you about our small part in what was a great evening!!

As well as displaying a Bauble Cake and talking to a great bunch of Brides, Grooms, Friends and Family about their wedding plans(Mostly Cake Talk of course!) I set the Guests a task of making their own Cup Cake wedding Flavour!!. I think everyone really enjoyed the task and of course got a cake to take home and eat, Just hope I did not train too many up! as some did really well making a superb job of the task even after a few glasses of Champagne!!!

Bauble Wedding Cake

Last cake of 2010 and it had to be a good one!! A large Bauble Cake in Blues and Ivory, For Sherolyn and John at the Stirk House Hotel in Gisburn. With 74 small and 10 Large baubles and topper over 9 tiers probably the largest we have done. Anyway here is a picture and feedback is always welcome!

Starting With 4 Wedding Cakes, A Castle Cake at the Alma Inn, A chocolate ruffle at Stirk House Hotel, and 2 t tier cakes one with lilies at Rose hill House and square rose Cake at The Oaks

Also 4 Birthday Cakes including a 18 Cake and a Manchester Utd Shirt. A very last minute Motorbike Cake and a Upsy Daisy Cake that wasn’t easy to make!!

Another busy weekend with 2 christening cakes again, seemed to be the season. The first 2 tier in pink with small toy box on top and the second blue one a much simpler cake with just foot prints on top.

Also 3 birthday cakes staring with a much requested cake the good old Burnley shirt always a winner with boys of all ages, and then a big chocolate cake for one of our past brides.The final cake being the most fun for a a builder who liked diving (the pool is meant to be half built!)

all in all a very busy week rounded off with a wedding fair at The Inn at Whitewell wedding fair on Sunday. We are now having a much needed week off!!

Big Update!!

Been so busy the last couple of weeks, Wedding fairs, Inspectors at College and a load of Cakes!! so sorry not had time to do updates!!

Anyway here are just a few of our cakes Firstly wedding cakes 3 four tier cakes, the first decorated with autumn leaves, the second was for a weeding fair and was a use up of leftover sugar flowers!! and the third calla lilies and black feathers with Diamantes.

Next a couple of Anniversary Cakes a diamond one with rose and a two tier silver with rose that were matched to the flowers from the wedding cake.

And a christening cake for good measure!

As well as a cross section of birthday cakes in all manner of designs

Anyway things have cooled down a little now so will hopefully be able to do more updates.

Sneaky Peek at our wedding fair cakes

With wedding fair season fast approaching we have been busy getting our sample cakes ready, here are a few you can expect to see.

So far we have 3 wedding fairs booked starting with Salmesbury Hall on the 5th September, and Spread Eagle Sawley on the 12th September and Burnley Football club on the 10th October.

Remember we will have tasting cake too!!

9 Tiers! A Castle! and Sugar Flowers

Only 3 cake this week, but what cakes!! We started by Making a 2 foot square Castle cake for Lynn and John who had their wedding at the lovely Dunkenhalgh Hotel the cake was so heavy it took two of us to deliver ( a Thank you goes to Craig for his extra pair of strong arms!). We next went to Fence Gate Inn to set up Angela and Karl’s Cake a more familiar 3 tier cake with plenty of sugar flowers. And finally on to Samlesbury Hall to complete the day with 9 Tiers of Chocolate Cup finished with fresh berries for Sarah and Nick.

Looks like I have been Piping!!

With 3 wedding cake two birthday cake and trying to get ahead for wedding fair in September, along with what felt like a million polka dots it’s been yet another busy week.

Anyway on the the cakes, the first cake ( black and white one) was made for the daughter of our neighbour and Julie and her Groom Mark got married at Mitton Hall. The second cake was at Mitton fold (4 tier lilies) which was handy for delivery as I had just been Mitton Hall :) and it looks like Amy and Andrew were in for a good day and the venue look lovely.

our final wedding cake was in a marquee in ribchester (I got lost trying to find it!!) for Rosie and Paul and Passion florist of clitheroe decorated it for us ( see the action shot!)

and a couple of birthdays as well Toy story and Top gear!!

I have started work on our wedding fair cakes (12th Sept Spread Eagle) and (10 Oct Burnley Football Club) so here is a sneak preview!!

Another 4 Wedding cakes this week and a birthday cake to boot!!!

The first of the wedding cakes was for Fiona and Lee at the Oaks Hotel (4 tier Burgundy and White layered) only to return back to the Oaks the next day for Samantha and Gemma’s wedding (3 tier with Pillars and Lilies). Next cake was for Vicky and Gary at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel (4 tier Cake) and we finished at the Cricket Club in Walsden for Patrick and Ashley’s (Modelled Characters)

And finally the birthday cake which we only did because they had a lovely wedding cake from us last year.

4 Weddings and a Birthday!!

5 cakes this weekend as expected being wedding season and all. The first ( Red roses and Lilies) was for Lynsay and Neil who had their wedding in the marquee at the Inn at Whitewell which as normal looked just lovely. The second ( 2 tier cake ) was at the Spread Eagle in Sawley for Julia and her husband who planned their wedding all the way from America! the venue looked brill and you can see us there on the 12th September 2010 for their wedding fair. The next cake ( 3 tier with gerberas ) was at The Higher Trapp for Catherine and Matt were we bumped into Sarah Cox from Venue Styling who was busy making the venue look gorgeous. Our final wedding cake was at Burnley League for Gemma and Martin (3 tier Lilies and teal Roses).

And if that wasn’t enough We also made a Birthday for one of our friends with a music theme!! It’s not two cakes just one cake for two people.

Staring off with the two wedding cakes, The individual hearts with the Bride and Groom topper and Rose’s was for Hayley and Chris who had their big day at Rose hill House Hotel, The Second being a 4 tier Chocolate Cake for Amber is for a venue in Manchester.

First Cakes of June

Busy day today with three cakes and some lovely but very hot weather(not best for delivering chocolate cakes)

The first ( Teal Lilies Cake ) was for Gemma and Jordan at the Shire Burn Arms in Hurst Green, and the second Lillie cake was for Melissa and Andrew at Burnley Football Ground, and the the chocolate ruffle cake was delivered to a Marque in Bashel Eaves that had been very tastefully decorated with a Moroccan theme.

Quiet Week for a change

We are enjoying the Sun!! after completing and delivering our 2 cakes this weekend, I am sure our two brides will be really happy to get such great weather too.

Anyway the two cakes follow, firstly a simple cake delivered to The Higher Trapp for Wendy and James to put their own flowers on, and the second a slightly more complex cake!! ( baubles ) was delivered to the Oaks Hotel for Nicola and Sean.

We continued our run of busy weeks with another 4 wedding cakes and Asantia lilies were popular. The first cake of the week was at the Oaks Hotel in Burnley for Michael and Michelle. Then it was a busy Saturday with three cakes one at Eaves Hall for Dan and Leanne ( Blue Asantia Lillie Cake), One at Dunkenhalgh for Paul and Natalie(Roses and Models) and the final one at Sparth House(4 tier Lillie cake) for Jolene and Michael.

Good selection of cake this week 2 4 tier cakes 1 Chocolate and one very simply iced, also 3 3tier cakes again very different in design from traditional to model and a bauble cake

We also made a couple of birthday cake for friends and a police mans helmet for a retirement cake.

Another busy week here at specialized-cakes with three wedding cakes and a celebration cake for our local scouts. The first wedding cake was for Becky and Mark who had their reception at Mitton Hall and the second for Lindsay and Paul who were married at the Coniston Hotel.

And we also made a cake for the local scouts who were celebrating 100 years.

Had a very busy week with four wedding cakes and a christening cake for good measure just in case we weren’t busy enough!!

Friday Wedding Cakes included a 5 tier Chocolate curls cake with Chocolate Rose’s and Lillie’s in ivory and purple for Victoria and Alex who had their reception at the Sparth House Hotel. The second for the Friday was a black wedding cake for Mick and Joanne who were married at White Hall Hotel, a brave design but the white and pink lilies really stood out making a excellent contrast.

Saturdays cakes included a 3 tier Chocolate curls cake with handmade sugar rose for Jamie and Sam at Burnley Football Club and a christening cake in pinks with fairies and flowers.

2 Wedding Cakes, an Anniversary Cake and a Birthday Cake for one of Matthews little friends this week. The first wedding cake –The classic 3 Tier Lilly Cake was made for Louise and Chris who had there wedding at Riverside in Whitworth, and the individual hearts cake was for Kimberley who got married at the Conservative Club in Burnley.

We also made a Diamond wedding anniversary Cake and A My Little pony Cake for Heather one of our Matthews little friends from School.

Two lovely Cakes this weekend firstly we made a Chocolate Cups Wedding Cake for Ian and Joanne and the dunkenhalgh hotel. The Second a Pink Bauble Wedding Cake was for Damian and Victoria at the Barton Grange Hotel nice to make such varies and interesting cake but was kept a bit busy as well!

We also bumped into Jane of Flower Design who not only did a lovely job of the wedding but also dressed the cake table for the chocolate cups I ma sure she will have more pictures of her own blog.

Busy Weekend

Quite a busy weekend with 3 wedding cakes the first being 70 individual cakes and topper for Haylay and Matt at the lovely Samlesbury Hall which had to be good as they are the Daughter and new son in Law of or friends at Special Wedding Cars.

The Second Cake for
Victoria and Ricky at the Railway club may have been a little easier but is just as different in a fun way.

The third Cake was at the
Higher Trapp for Adelle and Mick and features some lovely handmade Rose's.

Latest Cakes

Not added any Cakes Lately due to being far to Busy But will put a few of our latest on for you all to see.

We have Had a few Modelled cakes Lately The first(top one being for Lisa and Mick at Eaves Hall Hotel, and the Second was ordered by Susan the Sister of the Bride for Clough Manor, Saddle worth.

The Next two cakes where at Fence Gate Inn and the Lovely Lytham Hall for Shelly (Choc Roses at Lytham) and Paula and Mike (Fence Buns).

I have also included a mix or our other cakes Including a Christening Cake, Halloween Cake, 21st Wonky Cake and a Truck Cake along with a Extra Wedding Cake which was for Zoe and Simon at the Higher Trapp Hotel.

Tempest Arms Chutney Festival

We had great time at Tempest during the Chutney Festival making Cup Cake with some Children and some Adults too! Myself and Matthew my little helper for the day had good fun and I think the event went down really well with plenty of good comments all round. It was nice to see young children enjoying themselves making the cupcakes and being proud of their efforts let alone tucking in to them afterwards.

Thanks to Anne and the Team at the tempest for the Invite and look forward to doing it again Next Year !!

Starting on Friday at Higher Trapp hotel with the wedding of Mark and Samantha.One of our most popular designs cascading Asantia Lillie's, Calla and Red Rose's with green leaves and trailing Ivy. Followed on Satuaday by a funky Hearts Cakes with Buns for Steph and Carl at Fence Gate Inn.

With only one Birthday Cake for a little girl who had a christening cake from us last year it would have been a quiet weeks besides our Wedding Fair, College Open Day and Fun event at Tempest Arms.

Sneak Preview of Wedding Fair at Burnley Football Club 11th October

First up a Rice Paper covered 5 tier Cake highly lustered with Handmade Pink sugar Orchids just a little bit funky I think!!

Next up is a more Traditional Cake with a cushion Style side design with Handmade Asantia Lillie's with plenty of Cystals, Black Feathers and Diamante Chain to give it hopefully a more modern Finish.

Always like to have a simpler cake on display and hopefully this one with Handmade Daisy's on offset square polka dotted cake fit the bill and will appeal to some of our brides.

Another of our popular cake is heart individuals and we will have a sparkles rose version on show with gold highlights.

We also seem to be using a lot of clear stands at the moment and I must say I like them myself and this cake is clean with handmade Lillie's with perplex boards.

Staying with Clear Stands we will have our fountain on display and Mike from Design acrylics wad made us this lovely clear stand to use with the fountain, here we have made a funky hearts cake with matching individuals in boxes for something a little different.

And or course we need some Chocolate Wedding cakes and will have on display our two most popular design the first being a Chocolate Coco-foam Rose Ruffle Cake and the second being a individual Chocolate Cup Wedding Cake both always go down really well.

Another Busy Week

3 wedding Cake and 2 Birthday Cake
firstly we made a Simple 2 tier Polka dot and Handmade rose cake for Emily and David at Sparth House Hotel on the 1st.

Quickly Followed by Fridays 2 birthday Cakes the first being a Spider man Cake and the second a photo cake using a sport page and the favorite team for a news story both cakes for work friends.

And finally 2 more wedding cake a Classic Three 3 with hand made Geberas and Lillie's for Paula and Neil at Mitton Farm Hotel

And a Funky Chocolate Ruffle cake with layers of fresh berries at Higher Trapp Hotel for Sharon and Stephen

Busy Weekend

5 cakes on 1 Day!! Starting with this 5 tier Chocolate Curls Cake with Pink Cocofoam Roses, mixed Chocolate Lillie's and some Pink Butterflies at mytton fold for Claire and Matt

Then we had 2 christening Cakes 1 had 20 building blocks as well as present topper, we really liked the colours - gold and ivory and the Train Christening cake is a fav as we get plenty of orders for similar cakes as you can see from our website.

And it that was not enough we also has a Engagement Cake and an Anniversary Cake with Individuals to make! Very Simple but effective Engagement Cake 2 tier with funky red hearts. The silver individuals very effective with plenty of bling.

So we are having a nice rest today well deserved I think!!!

Here is a more Traditional cake with Handmade Sugar Lillie's and Roses with a lift from the silver leaves making it bit more modern.

I think the Hexagonal cake for the base and the pillars work well.

Another Chocolate Cups Wedding Cake. This one was at Gibbon Bridge Hotel which is a lovely setting.
The best thing about these cake is the fact they are ideal to use as your dessert (Hotel Allowing of course).

This Cake we did for Carolyn and Dave at Hipping hall back in May. Lovely setting and the weather was great.

I like this cake as it's a bit different with pink Orchids on a Rice Paper Cake with Green Leaves.

Inn at Whitewell wedding of Guy and Melanie

One of our more simple cakes, A clean finished cushion Design with pearlised Sugar Degrees topped with a lovely flower arrangement supplied by Jane at Flower Design .

The wedding was at Inn at whitewell and as you would expect was set up lovely and looked great the staff are always helpful and well organised and Jane had trimmed the table and marque up just great.
